Abstract
The concept of nondirective generalized drive
S. Kanear
The theoretical issues involved in the concept of nondirective multiplicative generalized drive were reexamined in the light of relevant empirical findings. It was argued, after considering criticisms and alternative formulations, that the concept of generalized drive is a useful construct in the analysis of motivation. It was suggested that associative factors and incentive motivation should supplement, and not replace, generalized drive toward a comprehensive theory of behavior.
