Abstract
Muller's theory of the specific energies of the sensory nerves

The late Professor Koji Sato was deeply concerned with psychology in all places and at all times. In writing this article in his memory, I have chosen a topic in the history of experimental psychology as it developed in lands far away from both his and mine and at a time well before both of us. I believe that he would have thought the choice to be appropriate.
