The present work deals with the problem of short-term memory in patients with frontal lobes lesions of the left hemisphere of the brain. We used four tests on these patients: test of learning by heart 10 unrelated words, direct reproduction test, reproduction test after "empty” pause, and interference test. The results obtained showed some definite defects of short-term memory in these patients. These defects consisted, first of all, in the pathological inertness of the imprinted stereotypes, which was noted mainly the cases of convexital regions, and in the loss of selectivity of the necessary systems of relationships suitable for the problem, which was noted mainly in patients with lesions of the basal division of this lobe of the brain.
