Abstract
Intolerance of Ambiguity and Response to Attitude Similarity-Dissimilarity
J. Pandey & R. Rastogi
The present experiment was designed to explore the question of whether or not intolerance of ambiguity is a necessary concomitant of the similarity-attraction effect. Thirty two subjects participated in a 2 (two levels of intolerance of ambiguity) X 2 (two levels of attitude similarity) factorial design experiment. With respect to the responses to the IJS items and the summed measure of attraction, main effects for similarity were found significant on all items with the exception of morality item. Intolerance of ambiguity has no influence on the basic similarity-attraction relationship.
