R.C. Mishra & V. Gupta
Using 2 X 2 factorial design, the role of quality of schooling and exposure to pictorial materials in the acquisition of skill of sequential perception was examined in the study. A test was designed and administered to a sample of eighty 9-11 year children matched for years of schooling. Poorer schooling and absence of exposure were found to have a retarding influence on the skill concerned. Quality of schooling proved to be a more powerful factor than exposure. 'The effect was more pronounced when the two variables operated jointly. Poorer performance of the disadvantaged children was attributed to the lack of environmental stimulation and opportunities for learning.
