Social desirability and sociometric choice status

Studies in social desirability have secured a prominent place in personality assessment and research. The present study was undertaken to ascertain the relationship between social desirability and sociometric choice status. Data were collected from 405 adolescent students reading in Class VIII standard of Higher Secondary Schools and social desirability correlates of sociometric choice status were determined. It had been established from the results that social desirability is a personality characteristic and it determines one's relative position on the sociometric status continuum.
