The
Development of Personality as Related to the Marital Status in
Nepalese Culture as Revealed by the Rorschach Responses
S. Thapa |
The
study was undertaken to examine the personality development of Nepalese
culture in terms of their sex and marital status. A group of 120
subjects of the Tribhuwan University, Kathmandu was administered:
Rorschach ink-blot test individually. It was found that the married
male and female subjects as compared to their unmarried male and
female counterparts were significantly different in their personality
characteristics. The results indicated significant differences on
W, D, Dd, and Do and S responses between the two groups of subjects.
The findings of the study, therefore were interpreted in terms of
classical theory indicating some problems of personality adjustment.
As such, it was suggested that a further study would be conducted
on the psychiatric patients undergoing treatment and representing
the same culture for a more meaningful analysis of the data. However,
irrespective of group difference in their apperceptive mode the sample
showed some adjustment problems according to classical interpretation
in the Nepalese culture.
