H. Ojha & R.R. Singh
The relationship of marriage-role attitude with two personality factors viz, dependence proneness and security-insecurity was discovered in 100 male and 100 female postgraduate students of faculty of social sciences of Bhagalpur University, India. The instruments used were Hindi version of Jacobson's Marriage Role Attitude Scale, Sinha's Dependence Proneness Scale and Hindi adaptation of Maslow's Security-Insecurity Inventory. The findings indicated that marriage role attitude is negatively and significantly associated with dependence proneness in both male and female subjects. No significant relationship was observed between marriage role attitude and insecurity. The results also revealed that male Ss as compared to female Ss, urban Ss as compared to rural Ss, and Ss from nuclear families as compared to those from joint families, obtained significantly higher M-R scores indicating their preference for equalitarian marital role.
