The
Cultural Context of Japanese Sexuality--An American Perspective
P.R. Abramson |
The
present paper articulates an incipient theory of the cultural context
of Japanese sexuality. The theory was developed while the present
author was a Visiting Professor of Psychology at Kyoto University
in Japan. Reference was made to Japanese customs, laws, psychology,
and mythology. A small sample of .contemporary Japanese literature
was also reviewed as a point of illustration, and a measure of ecological
validity. This literature represented 5 of the most critically acclaimed,
and widely read, Japanese authors. Conclusions were drawn, and biases
were discussed.
