Some relationships of creativity with intelligence and personality variables

1) Sumida TC-1S creativity test was administered to 104 first year students of a senior high school. Internal consistency of this test was guaranteed by factor analysis. It is confirmed that this has a moderate correlation with IQ but that it measures something different from intelligence. 2) Those who are within upper 50 percent in Kyoto University NX-15 intelligence test but within Lower 50 percent in the creativity test are more independent, more introvert, more dominant and less sociable than those who are within lower 50 percent in the intelligence test but within upper 50 percent in the creativity test. The Latter is superior to the former in academic record. (3) When IQ is controlled, the high scorers on creativity test are less neurotic and more extrovert than the low scorers. There is no difference in school record between the two groups. 4) The high scorers on associational fluency are more introvert, more dominant and less sociable than the low scorers. There is no difference in school record between the two groups. 5) The high scorers on ideational fluency are less neurotic, more dominant, more confident, more independent, more extrovert and less sociable than the low scorers. No difference is found in school record between the two groups. b) The high scorers on flexibility of thinking are more neurotic, less confident and less sociable than the low scorers. No difference is found in school record between the two groups.
