The
effects of response meaningfulness and overlearning on re-pairing
tasks
K. Yamagata |
In
two experiments, the effects of materials in response (words vs.
nonsense syllables) and amount of training on transfer were investigated
in the A-B, A-Br1, A-Br2 paradigm. There was no transfer effect regardless
of the materials and amount of training in trial scores, Negative
transfer in error scores occurred in A-Br1 list with words list,
but positive transfer increased gradually as a function of number
of re-paired lists with nonsense syllable list, Facilitating effects
of overlearning were shown in both materials. These results were
explained in terms of response availability and search or editing
process.
