Dogmatism, training and enjoyment of Western classical music
K.C. Sou
Music students were compared with Arts students in their responses to Dvorak, Brahms, Starvinsky, and Schonberg & Webern. Preference far Brahms is related to closed-mindedness and preference for Stravinsky is associated with lack of training; while responses to Dvorak and Schonberg & Webern cannot be predicted from open-mindedness and music training. Theoretical and instructional implications were discussed.
