In this paper we attempted to make a summary of some experiments on the instrumental modification of autonomic responses to date made by the present authors. Studies were done on heart rate (HR) and GSR. In the rewarding situation, the reinforcer such as tone, light or slide of a nude female in color was presented, while the noxios electric stimulus as JCS was applied in the avoidance situation. In addition, in order to examine the effect of drive strength on the modifiability, the subject was motivated by water deprivation in two instrumental rewarding experiments. Finally some questions to be determined by future studies were pointed out.
