Abstract
The role of parental discipline in hostility, guilt and conflict over hostility
T. Tang
Except for conflicting interview reports as to whether or not psychology exists as a science or as an institution, little is known outside the PRC about contemporary psychology in China. Recently, however, psychologists visiting China reported seeing excellent psychology libraries and many English and Chinese editions of Woodworth and Schlosberg's Experimental psychology. The preface to the Chinese edition of Experimental psychology is translated and presented here because it is regarded as denotative information on the nature of experimental psychology in China. This preface provides a delineation of the theoretical position of PRC psychology. Its contents and wide circulation within China suggest that psychology is both a science and a viable institution in China.
