Abstract
Psychosocial homeostasis and vocational interest
M. Bennett & F.H. Tiy
An interest measure developed in Papua New Guinea (the Pacific Vocational Interest Analysis), was administered to two Chinese samples, one in Hong Kong, the other in Fiji, in order to obtain same validation of Hsu's concept of "psychosocial homeostasis". Comparison samples were also taken of Fijian Indians, Fijian Melanesians, and New Hebridean Melanesians. Results indicated that occupational values, as reflected by an interest measure, were the same between Chinese groups, but different between all the other groups, thus giving some support to Hsu's model.
