What is the self concept in Japan?
I. Mahler
This article r sports the development of a Japanese translation of a well known and useful American test of the self concept: the Tennessee Self concept Scale. The final version of the translated Japanese test was administered to 345 university students in Japan. Norms were computed and compared with those of a contemporary American sample of university students, and the significant differences which appear are discussed. It is concluded that the test may be useful far Japanese psychologists and counselors, but considerable further work and investigation into the extent of its usefulness needs to be done.
