Abstract
Teaching Effectiveness and Organizational Climate
U. Kumar
Matched on the variables of rank, field of specialization, educational qualification, departmental affiliation, sex, and research capabilities, twenty male faculty members were grouped in two groups based on teaching effectiveness score obtained from the rating of 200 undergraduate students. These faculty members were asked to fill out the organizational climate questionnaire. The hypothesis of the study was that performance in teaching which is one of the main work demands of the teacher would effect his perceptions of the work environment. There were significant differences in the perception of the faculty in the areas of warmth, responsibility given to them, and structure in the organization. These factors are important variables in determining future performance and in their becoming potential determiners of the quality of life in the subsequent years in the same work setting.
