Holiday
Depression in Young Adults
P.O. Peretti |
Holidays,
especially Christmas, tend to be times of joy, gaiety, and elation
for some individuals. For others, the holidays are periods of profound
sadness or even depression. The present research was conducted to
determine: (1) specific self-perceived variables of holiday depression
at Christmastime of single men and women, and (2) a comparison of
similarities and/or differences of each group. Results suggested
eleven different variables important in the self-perceptions of the
subjects. 'There were significant differences in the response rates
by sex of subject. Theoretical implications of the variables were
also considered.
