Studies
in social desirability have secured a prominent place in personality
assessment and research. The present study was undertaken to ascertain
the relationship between social desirability and sociometric choice
status. Data were collected from 405 adolescent students reading
in Class VIII standard of Higher Secondary Schools and social desirability
correlates of sociometric choice status were determined. It had been
established from the results that social desirability is a personality
characteristic and it determines one's relative position on the sociometric
status continuum.
