A Japanese language translation of a theoretically based personality test called the Emotions Profile Index (EPI),was administered to three groups of Japanese patients; neurotics, schizophrenics and alcoholics. It appeared that the personality profiles of the neurotics and the schizophrenic females are fairly similar. The alcoholics are significantly less dyscontrolled than the other two groups. The alcoholic group of 59 men show a somewhat different profile but the timidity element is even more exaggerated, while the depression score is relatively more normal. And the neurotics are significantly more depressed than the other two groups and they are also significantly more controlled.
