Abstract
Natural Eye Movement and Lambda Response
A. Yagi
The occipital EEG and the EOG were recorded, while subjects observed a geographical map. EEGs triggered at onset and offset of saccades were averaged respectively with a computer. The lambda responses in offset averages were larger in amplitude than in onset averages. The wave forms of lambda responses were in phase across subjects in offset averages, but out of phase in onset averages. The results support the findings in earlier studies that the lambda response was associated with offset of the saccade. EEGs should be triggered at offset of saccades for accurate detection of the lambda responses in a naturally observing situation.
