The purpose of the present study is to show whether the cultural influence brings a change in designating a particular emotional context represented in face. Forty three Indian Subjects are asked to choose the appropriate statement amongst the statements given in a prearranged form, for each of the 13 photographs in Lightfoot series. Result shows variations in agreement for some of the photographs in comparison to those given in the Lightfoot series. In a second study, it has been attempted to see whether the persons who are actively involved in dealing with facial expressions of emotions by their profession differ significantly from those who are not so, in rating the 13 photographs of Lightfoot series. The result shows statistically insignificant difference.
