Abstract
A Study of Parent-Child Relation and Achievement Motivation among Lndian Adolescent Boys
H. Ojha
The purpose of the present investigation was to determine the relationship of achievement motivation among Indian male adolescents with different kinds of parental behaviour. For assessing this, Parental Behaviour Questionnaire and McClelland's Need Achievement Test were administered to 120 first-year intermediate students. The results indicate that Mother's love goes with acceleration in n Achievement level in boys whereas mother's rejection and protection are associated with retardation in n Achievement level. n Achievement appears to be uninfluenced by mother's restriction, permissiveness and neglect. On the other hand, father's permissiveness and love are concomitant with rise in n Achievement level whereas father's restriction, rejection and protection bear inverse relation with rise in n Achievement. Like mother's neglect father's neglect also does not vary with n Achievement level of boys.
