Abstract
Effects of fear on Conformity and Fixation of Escape Behavior
N. Kugihara
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of fear on the conformity and fixation of the subject's behavior in the choice of an escape route. The experiment was conducted in a 2 (fear vs non-fear) x 60 (trials) factorial design. The results were as follows: 1) fear facilitated conformity, that is, almost all the subjects rushed to and gathered in one of the available routes in the fear condition, 2) subjects in the fear condition tried repeatedly to escape through a certain route without changing the route.
