Phonological Analysis and Acquisition of Reading and Writing in Children

In this paper an attempt was made to formulate the role of phonological analysis in reading and writing acquisition by children through analyzing transformation processing between graphic and phonological codes in reading and writing. Then main findings of our researches concerning it in Japanese syllabic symbol system, Hiragana, were reviewed and the problem of relationship between phonological analysis and the acquisition of literacy by children was discussed.
