Abstract
Effects of Caffeine on the Motor activity of the Laboratory rat: Physiological and Psychological Considerations
W.H. Loke
Numerous studies have been conducted on the effects of caffeine on locomotor activity of rats. The results, however, are variable. The present paper suggests that the inconsistencies in results could be accounted for by physiological and psychological variables that modulate the effects of caffeine. A review of the variables is given. Future studies are suggested to control for these variables in experimental designs that investigates caffeine's effects on locomotor activity.
