R. Ohri & D. Malhotra
The present study aimed at investigating the difference in performance on prisoner's problem solving task in terms of fear of success and neuroticism of 120 university women and 120 working women. A 2 x 2 x 2 factorial design was used. The performance was judged in terms of time taken to solve the problem. The data were analysed by ANOVA. The results were 1) Low fear of success women perform significantly better than high fear of success women 2) High scorers on neuroticism dimension performed significantly less well than the stable women 3) A significant fear of success x neuroticism interaction reveals that high fear of success debilitate and low fear of success facilitates the performance of stables. On the other hand, at the neurotic end there are no differences between high and low fear of success groups, and both the groups perform poorly as compared to stables.
