S. Jain & P. Mishra
The study relates child rearing variables to the cognitive ability of adolescents of VIII to X standards. The Sears interview schedule was used to assess rearing patterns of 108 mothers. The cognitive ability of the adolescents was measured through Block design, Object assembly and Concept formation tests. The regression analysis revealed that punishment, discipline by others, and aggressiveness in the context of fight were the only significant factors which negatively contributed to the cognitive ability.
