Abstract
The Effects of White Noise and Gender on Mental Task
A. Panchon & F.F. Terol
Different perfomance patterns between genders were obtained from 48 university students (24 women and 24 men) analysing the results of two tests (test of complex responses and test of arithmetic calculus) carried out with superimposed white noise (95 dBA). The time analysis of the arithmetic test shows that women have a very short adaptation time to sonorous stress; on the contrary men seem to need several minutes to adapt to high noise conditions.
