Hypnosis
in sensory deprivation : a brief case report
C.A. Brownfield |
Gill
and Brenman (1959) hypothesized that sensory deprivation would enhance
susceptibility to hypnosis. Most studies of hypnotizability have
failed to confirm the Gill-Brenman hypothesis, but this may have
been due to the fact that Ss were not in sensory deprivation during
induction attempts. This is a report of one attempt to induce an
hypnotic state together with a brief description of the procedure
and results; further systematic investigation with a larger N is
suggested.
