<About my research>
My research interests include autonomous learning, learner motivation, and self-regulation of university students in an EFL learning context. My current study examines the whole model of self-regulated reading process with a focus on the relationships between motivation, learning strategies, and performance. The ultimate goal of my research is to support and promote active learning among EFL learners on the basis of relevant research findings.
For a couple of years my research colleagues and I have conducted some questionnaire surveys in several universities in Japan, and in the near future we are going to reveal how autonomous EFL learners read an English text with the think-aloud protocol approach.
<About the laboratory that I belong to>
My supervisor is Professor Emmanuel Manalo (His detailed information can be found in the following web page: http://cogpsy.educ.kyoto-u.ac.jp/member/manalo.html). Because his research covers various topics such as learning/teaching strategies, spontaneous diagram use in problem solving, communication, and thinking processes, critical thinking, and L2 learning skills, not only students of the lab but also students of other laboratories and departments join his weekly lab meeting held on Friday morning. If you get interested in our laboratory, please feel free to contact Professor Manalo by email (see again the web site shown above). We always welcome those who are interested.
